Looking for a job in retail? Walmart might be looking for you.
The nation’s largest retailer, which is expected to close an existing store this winter at 4950 W. 23rd St. to make way for a new 190,000-square- foot supercenter on West Ridge Road, will hold on to its existing workforce.
But the new, larger store is expected to need a larger staff.
Walmart has announced that it’s looking to hire an additional 85 employees to work at the relocated Walmart store.
Store manager Pete Burns said the store will be hiring both full- and part-time employees.
“We are excited to open this Walmart in Erie and bring good jobs with career opportunities to the area,” he said.
Burns said associates are needed to work in all areas of the new store, including supervisory positions.
Applications are being taken 24 hours a day at a hiring kiosk set up inside the existing Walmart.
Applicants may also apply online at http://careers.walmart.com.
The company hopes to fill the majority of the 85 positions immediately.
