Field & Stream Store announced for space for planned Cabela’s

The identity of a previously unknown retailer that prompted a federal lawsuit by Cabela’s has been announced.

What would be the nation’s third Field & Stream Store, a new chain owned and operated by Dick’s Sporting Goods, is expected to open next year at the Millcreek Marketplace, between Buffalo Wild Wings and the SpringHill Suites Hotel.

That planned 50,000-square-foot store had originally been proposed as the location for a Cabela’s Outpost store. Those plans fell apart in March, prompting Cabela’s, a chains of outdoor stores, to file a lawsuit against the Cafaro Co., which owns the Millcreek Mall, and Baldwin Brothers, which owns Millcreek Marketplace in a joint venture with Cafaro.

Cabela’s, which has since announced plans to build near Buffalo, claims the two parties used Cabela’s to leverage a lease with another retailer.

That retailer will open its first location next week in Cranberry Township, Butler County, and a second store later this year in Kentucky.

Construction already has begun on a new Jared jewelry store to be located near the Field & Stream Store.
