Why $3.50-a-gallon gas might be in our future

Gas prices dropped 4 cents a gallon Monday night at many area stations, bringing the most common price in Erie to $3.85 for a gallon of unleaded regular.
Gas prices have been on their way down for three weeks, falling 14 cents a gallon at most stations from month-ago highs of $3.99.
What’s happening here is happening across the country. AAA reported Monday that the national average price of a gallon of unleaded regular was $3.83.
Current prices are now lower than a year ago – when average prices were $3.99 – and are expected to go lower in the weeks ahead.
Some forecasters are saying prices could fall to $3.50 this summer now that tensions between the U.S. and Iran have subsided and demand for oil has been lower than expected in India and China.
