Erie-based Erie Insurance Group outperformed 10 other insurance companies to rank No. 1 in the Mid-Atlantic region in customer satisfaction, based on a study by J.D. Power and Associates.

The ratings, announced this afternoon, are based on customer satisfaction with price, policy offerings, billing, payment and claims.

In this region, Erie Insurance took top honors, followed by State Farm, Nationwide, Travelers and Progressive.

Geico, known for its lizard-led advertising, ranked seventh.
