Tomato blight hits farms across state
A local produce farmer said Monday that he hasn’t seen any evidence of late tomato blight so far this year.
“I heard about the problem some places are having elsewhere in the state, but we haven’t had it around here,” said Paul Pangratz, who farms 22 acres in Girard Township. “You also have early tomato blight, which isn’t much of a factor in this area.”
A call to the Erie County Cooperative Extension on Monday was not returned.
