Erie readers of Money might see a familiar face in the magazine’s July issue. The financial magazine included Jim Schlabach, an information technology manager at GE Transportation, among its “everyday heroes” of personal finance.

He was nominated by his staffers, the magazine said. For eight years Schlabach has opened his weekly staff meetings with Finance 101, short tutorials covering everything from asset allocation to 401(k) loans. Schlabach is one of 40 people the magazine will recognize this year for their extraordinary efforts to improve others’ financial well-being.
