Girard man claims $1 million Powerball prize
You can stop searching for those crumpled Powerball tickets. The owner of a ticket worth $1 million, sold June 30 at Country Fair in Fairview, has come forward to claim his prize.
The winning ticket, which matched all five white balls, 07-15-20-41-44, but not the red Powerball 22, was sold to 60-year-old John M Fies Sr., of Girard Township.
His wife Shelby, whom he married nearly 42 years ago, said he’s not sure yet if he will give up his job as a laborer.
“We were so very thankful,” she said. “It couldn’t have come at a better time. It’s a very nice retirement nest egg.”
