Dec. 15 is new target for Peek’n Peak opening

Mother Nature is not cooperating with Peek’n Peak Resort and Spa’s plan to open its ski center.
Peek’n Peak, located near Findley Lake, N.Y., had hoped to open some or all of its 27 trails today, but there has not been enough sustained cold weather to make that happen. The ski center was making snow Wednesday night, but much of that will probably be washed away by this weekend’s rain.
“We need five 12-hour shifts of snow making to have enough,” explained Brad Gravink, director of mountain operations at Peek’n Peak.
He said next week’s forecast indicates that they could be making snow Tuesday through Friday.
“Right now, we’re hoping to go on the 15th,” he said.
