GE Transportation pledges $20,000 match for Behrend students

GE Transportation, Erie County’s largest employer, has pledged to match the first $20,000 raised by students at Penn State Behrend forThon, which is billed as the country’s longest dance marathon.

Proceeds from the event, which begins Feb. 16, will be used to treat children with pediatric cancer. The money contributed both by GE and other sponsors will be added to the Four Diamonds Fund at Penn State Hershey Children’s Hospital.

Behrend students already have raised $14,000 for this year’s event.

Those who wish to contribute, can visit www.thon.org, click “Donate Now,” and select Behrend as your organization of choice.

The annual 46-hour dance marathon has raised more than $89 million since 1977.
