Ground broken for new Erie-area hotel

Crews are moving dirt for the construction of a new hotel on Oliver Road in Summit Township.

The new hotel, a 77-room Home-2-Hilton property, will be located at 8035 Oliver Road, across the street from the existing Country Inn & Suites at 8040 Oliver Road. Both the existing hotel and the new Hilton property, are owned by Michael Patel and Erie-based Newport Hospitality LLC.

Marge Hudak, zoning administrator for Summit Township, said the all-suites hotel will feature a running track.

The building permit has not yet been issued, and the price of the project has not been announced, she said.

Homes-2-Hilton is described on the company’s Website as “a hip extended stay hotel experience.”

Hudak said Patel hopes to have the hotel open by fall.
The property will add to Erie County’s existing inventory of about 4,400 hotel rooms.
