Harborcreek Township has approved development plans for a new Dollar General Store on East Lake Road.

The Tennessee-based retailer plans to build a store at 4268 East Lake Road but has not given the project a final green light, Dollar General spokeswoman Crystal Ghassemi said. The store would be located on the northwest corner of East Lake Road and Taylor Avenue. A small apartment building previously stood on the site.

“Currently Dollar General is in the due diligence phase for this location. We hope to open a store in this location, but have not committed to doing so,” Ghassemi said.

Dollar General already operates a store at 4669 Buffalo Road in Harborcreek, plus 16 others in Erie County. The chain bills itself as the nation’s largest small-box discount retailer, operating more than 8,400 stores nationwide.
