Huntington Bank to close State Street location

Ohio-based Huntington Bank is closing its office at 831 State St., but bank officials say there are no plans to withdraw from the Erie market.

In fact, the company is looking for other opportunities to expand and has to plans to roll out an expanded network of ATMs, said John Durant, area manager for Huntington.

Plans to close the State Street office in late March or early April grew out of a regular review process in which the bank examines all of its locations, said William Eiler, a spokesman for the bank.

He said employees from the State Street location will be transferred to the bank’s other Erie locations in Girard and at 2185 W. 12th St. and 5805 Peach St.
