Is bad-weather business mounting for local tire dealers?

Bad weather in the Erie area is keeping snowplow drivers and tow-truck operators busy today. But what about tire shops – are they scrambling today to sell, mount and balance snow tires for folks who have been putting off that chore?

It’s a split verdict.

“Yeah, we’re busy,” said Beverly Gindlesperger at Gindy’s Tire Warehouse on East Eighth Street. “Lots of people are bringing cars in that didn’t make it in the snow yesterday.

Other dealers, including Johnson & Flick Tire & Auto on Peach Street and Valley Tire on Weschler Avenue, report they’re having an average day.
Albert Mancuso of Johnson & Flick said he figures most people already have their winter tires.

Mike Schick of Tires For Less on West 26th Street has another explanation for average sales during one of the worst storms of the winter: “I think it’s actually too bad for them to get here,” he said. “Yesterday we were a lot busier.”
