National Fuel sees rising natural gas prices

Growing production of shale gas continues to hold natural gas prices down, but Natural Fuel Gas Distribution Corp. predicts customers will see a price increase by late summer.

The utility, which serves 214,000 customers in western Pennsylvania, has filed its annual purchased gas cost projection, required by the state Public Utility Commission.

NFG predicts that by Aug. 1 of this year the price of delivered gas will rise 9.2 percent.

That would boost the monthly bill of a typical customer — one using 90,000 cubic feet per year — from $76.61 a month to $83.63.
