Time to worry about one of our last book stores?

Barnes & Noble Inc., which operates a store at 5909 Peach St., expects to close as many as a third of its retail stores over the next 10 years, the Wall Street Journal reported this morning.

“In 10 years we’ll have 450 to 500 stores,” said Mitchell Klipper, chief executive of Barnes & Nobles retail group, told the WSJ last week.

He did not divulge which of the company’s 689 retail stores might close, but he did say that fewer than 20 were losing money.
