Walmart to open new Millcreek store Friday

A grand opening ceremony is being planned for 7:30 a.m. Friday at the new Walmart at 5350 West Ridge Road, which has been under construction for nearly a year. Associate Rachell Bersche will sing the national anthem while the Fairview High School band will perform the music. The Rev. Ben DiStefano will lead the invocation, and the Millcreek Veterans of Foreign Wars will present the colors. Store manager Pete Burns and the original discount store associates will cut the ribbon to the new store.
The new Walmart replaces another that is just east of the new store’s location and brings another 85 jobs to the region. It will be open 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
Customers are being encouraged to come to the store on grand-opening day to take advantage of a wide variety of promotions, including product samplings and giveaways from companies such as Pepsi and Frito Lay, and character appearances by Chester Cheetah and Pepsi’s inflatable mascot, Fizzy.
