Winter, skiing hanging on at Peek’n Peak

You can still ski and snowboard at Peek’n Peak Resort and Spa in Clymer, N.Y.

The ski center, which closed early a year ago, is expected to remain open through the first week of April, said Chris N. Scott, vice president of Scott Enterprises Inc., which owns Peek’n Peak.

The center continues to get snow. Overnight, it received another 3 inches. As a result, all 27 trails remain open.

“It (the season) was substantially better than the first year we owned it,” Scott said of this ski season. “The snow was a lot better than last year.”

An early thaw in 2012 brought a premature end to the ski season a year ago. That’s not the case this year as March has had below-average temperatures and the winter season has brought near-normal snowfall.
