Unemployment rate drops slightly in Erie in February

The seasonally adjusted unemployment rate for Erie decreased one-tenth of a percentage-point in February to 7.9 percent. Statewide, the unemployment rate fell by one-tenth to 8.1 percent, while the national was dropped two-tenths to 7.7 percent.
Neighboring counties performed better. Warren County dropped eight-tenths of a percentage point to 6.4 percent, Crawford dropped one full percentage point to 7.5 percent and Mercer fell 1.1 percent to 8.9 percent. These large drops followed the large increases of the previous month.
In February, seasonally adjusted total nonfarm jobs fell by 400 in Erie to 130,700. This was the eighth decline in jobs for the county in the past twelve months, with jobs now down 900 from one year ago.
