New Sheetz store to open in Erie County

Erie County’s fifth Sheetz convenience store is set to open Thursday morning.

The new store, located at Route 20 and Sunset Drive in Girard Borough, will open with an 11 a.m. ribbon-cutting ceremony that will be attempted by local officials.

The Altoona-based chain will celebrate the event with free food and prizes and will present a check to support the Girard Community Pool.

Sheetz chain owner Charlie Sheetz is excepted to be on hand Thursday along with Deb Kociban, director of regional operations for the chain of more than 430 stores.

The new store is expected to employ between 30 and 40 people.
