Tom Ridge is the latest prominent Republican to support the GOP front-runner.
The Mitt Romney campaign today announced the backing from the former Pennsylvania governor and secretary of homeland security. Ridge still has ties to the Erie area, and maintains a home in Millcreek Township.
“Having spent most my life in public service … I’ve met accomplished and strong leaders in my life. Mitt Romney is one of them,” Ridge said in a statement.
“He would bring to the presidency an extraordinary set of skills. His record of accomplishment in the private sector is matched by his achievements as governor of Massachusetts and his work saving the 2002 Winter Olympics in Salt Lake City,” Ridge said.
Romney said in a statement that he is honored and humbled to get Ridge’s endorsement.
On Tuesday, former Congressman Phil English of Erie and other GOP leaders endorsed Romney in Harrisburg.
Do you think the GOP leaders’ endorsements will help Romney and hurt Rick Santorum in his home state?
