D-49th Dist., has been named Democratic chairman of the state Senate’s Intergovernmental Operations Committee.
The appointment was one of Wiley’s five committee assignments, according to his office. The committee was created to consider proposals for streamlining state government, including the possible consolidation of agencies.
“ I think there is an opportunity to have a substantial impact on how taxpayer dollars are spent at a time of tight revenue and increasing public impatience with bureaucracy,” Wiley said.
Wiley was also assigned to the following state Senate committees:
Community, Economic and Recreational Development; Public Health and Welfare; Labor and Industry; and Communications and Technology.
“I’m excited to have the opportunity to serve on these committees. Each one touches on a different aspect of our community,” Wiley said.
