Franklin voters to fill seats on expanded board

A year ago, Franklin Township voters decided that they wanted to expand their Board of Supervisors from three to five members.

Now, voters will make decisions in this year’s election to fill those extra two seats.

In the May 21 primary, Republicans will choose two nominees for a six-year term from among incumbent Gary Truitt and challengers Roma Rome Miller and Daniel H. Netzler.

There are two candidates running for a four-year term: Democrat Benjamin J. Sitek Jr. and Republican Dana Erdely. They are unopposed for the party’s nominations and will square off in the Nov. 5 election.

Sitek said the township hopes that better decisions are made with an expanded board.

The elected supervisors will take office in January 2014.
