Lisa Austin will announce her plans for the Nov. 5 municipal election on Tuesday evening.
But really, what else could it be besides an attempt for a write-in campaign for County Council’s 2nd District seat?
“If she does run, she would maintain the same political party, which is Democrat,” said Julia Nene, Austin’s communications and PR leader.
That would leave only one option — a write-in attempt.
I spoke briefly to Austin, but she declined to provide details until the news conference. “We’re announcing something” about the election, she said.
Austin will announce her plans for the Nov. 5 municipal election during a news conference Tuesday at 6 p.m. at the Masonic Temple Building, 32 W. Eighth St., Suite 605.
She sure sounded like a candidate in a news release.
“Since the primary … I have continued to work on plans to invigorate Erie’s economy and revitalize our region,” she said in a statement.
“Erie is at a critical juncture, and we need to move it forward by tapping into its potential. There is too much crime, jobs being lost and young minds seeking opportunities elsewhere. We are better than this, and we must change course,” she said.
The 2nd District takes in Erie’s bayfront from Millcreek to Lawrence Park townships.
