Saving more green

Yesterday, I shared one of the Worldwatch Institute’s simple steps for going green in 2012.

Here’s another one that can help save the environment and also money for you, particularly if you like salad:

Grow your own lettuce.

Lettuce seeds are cheap, according to the e-mail I received from the Worldwatch Institute. When planted in full sun, one window box worth of seeds can provide enough lettuce to make several salads worth throughout a season.

If you do a Google search for “how to grow lettuce in a window box,” you can find lots of articles, advice and even videos.
