Frostbit fun and a fundraiser
Even if you didn’t sign up to golf, you can still have fun this weekend watching the Joe Root’s Frostbite Open.
The second annual golf tournament fundraiser will be held Sunday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Presque Isle State Park.
I went last year and it was funny watching people trying to golf on frozen Presque Isle Bay, where the balls really bounced. This year, golfers will be trying their luck on the beaches because the bay isn’t frozen. I’m hoping it will be equally amusing.
Brian Gula, a park naturalist, is expected to be there dressed in character and portraying Root, a hermit who lived on the peninsula.
