Dad’s day doesn’t have to break your bank

There are ways you can show Dad you love him without spending your savings.

Cardstore.com is offering Father’s Day cards on its website for $1.99 if you enter the code CWH2604 at checkout. Standard shipping is free, according to the site.

I received a postcard in the mail from Cardstore.com that says Father’s Day cards are just 99 cents if you use code CMG2587. That offer is good through June 10 or while supplies last.

Numerous local stores also sells cards for $1 and sometimes less, if you’re willing to shop around.

Or you could make him a card from materials you already have. Get out the markers, crayons, construction paper, newspaper comics, glue, tape, maybe even some family photos. Create a card that will have the kind of special meaning you couldn’t buy at any price.

Buying your dad a discount card or giving him a homemade one doesn’t mean you don’t love him, only that you’re frugal.

What are some ways you’ve shown your dad that you love him without spending a lot of money? Send me a comment or an e-mail to dana.massing@timesnews.com and I’ll share your Father’s Day ideas with others.
