Weekly picnics serve free entertainment

North East’s first Picnic in the Park for this summer season will take place this week.

The events run each Thursday through Aug. 16 from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. in Gibson Park at the corner of Route 20/West Main Street and Route 89/North Lake Street.

The entertainment — this week by Jimmy Cuneo — is free and food will be available for sale from a different eatery each week at “reasonable” prices, organizers said. There’s also a free craft for children each week plus games.

For a list of who’s performing and who’s offering food each Thursday, visit www.nechamber.org/events/Picnic in the Park/Picnic_in_the_Park.htm or call (814) 725-4262.
