Free event is for the beginning birders

Hundreds of species of birds have been spotted at Presque Isle State Park, so what better place to go birding. And if you’ve never done it before, you can learn how in a free class.

Beginner Birding will be offered Wednesday from 9 to 11 a.m. by a park naturalist at the Tom Ridge Environmental Center. You’ll learn how to identify birds using field guides, binoculars and spotting scopes.

Organizers said the free event is open to all ages and registration isn’t required. Call (814) 217-9638 to learn more.
