One of my assignments as a young reporter was heading up to the Millcreek Mall at 6 a.m. on Black Friday to interview shoppers waiting in line for stores to open. Now they don’t have to wait that long. Many stores will be opening, and starting their sales, on Thanksgiving night.

Here are just a few I’ve heard about:

Sears, opening stores on Thanksgiving at 8 p.m.

Target, opening stores on Thanksgiving at 9 p.m.

Wal-Mart, starting its Black Friday toys, games and apparel promotions on Thanksgiving at 8 p.m. and its electronics deals at 10 p.m.
