How are you going to spend wisely in 2013?

I’ve decided that before I buy anything that isn’t a necessity (like food or toilet paper), I’m going to really pause and ask myself the following questions:

Can I can afford the item?

Do I need it?

Do I need it right then or can it wait until I have money set aside specifically for it?

Is the price I see on it the best I can find or should I look around for a better deal?

I’m hoping the answers to those questions will help stop me from making costly impulse buys.
