Sale, coupon lead to 30-cent cereal

I’ll never be one of those extreme couponers. I don’t have the time or the patience to do what it takes to get $500 worth of groceries for $6. But I did have an extreme couponing moment over the weekend when I went to the grocery store.

I’ve been wanting to try the Multi Grain Cheerios Peanut Butter cereal but have been waiting until I had a coupon. I recently came across two coupons online, one for 85 cents off and one for 75 cents off.

I had printed both and took the higher value coupon with me Sunday when I went to Giant Eagle, where the peanut butter Cheerios were on sale. Instead of $3.89, the box was only $2 with my Giant Eagle Advantage Card. The store doubled my 85-cent coupon, making it worth $1.70. Which means I got my box of Cheerios for 30 cents.

If you want in on this deal, the last time I checked, both coupons were still available. I found the 85-cent one at http://www.bettycrocker.com/coupons-promotions/coupons/default and the 75-cent one at Coupons.com. And the coupons aren’t just good on the peanut butter cereal. You also can use them for regular Multi Grain Cheerios.
