Back when I was in grade school, for at least a couple years in a row, I remember being shown “The Red Balloon.” I don’t know if the school got a copy of the film about a little boy and a red balloon in Paris for a really good price or whether some teacher or administrator just really liked it. Anyway, if I want to see it again, it’s being shown for free at the Erie Art Museum this week.
The Film Society of Northwestern Pennsylvania will hold a spring kick-off party for the Film at the Erie Art Museum series. Doors will open Wednesday at 6 p.m., with the program starting at 7. The event will feature a preview of the spring film lineup and then screening of the classic short film from 1956. The party at the art museum, 20 E. Fifth St., will include free Magic Hat beer samples, according to the film society’s website.
