Free workshop teaches composting

The Lake Erie Arboretum at Frontier and Greener Behrend are offering a free composting workshop on Saturday from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. at the L.E.A.F. education building, 1501 W. Sixth St.

The class will be taught by Penn State master gardeners. The first 20 participants to register will receive a free composter courtesy of Greener Behrend, officials said.

Space is limited and advance registration is requested. To learn more or sign up, call (814) 453-5323 or visit www.leaferie.org.

I’ve been composting for several years and found it’s great for my garden. Plus, I don’t feel as guilty¬†if I buy a banana or tomato and it goes bad before I get to eat it. By composting it, I’m at least getting some value out of it and not just throwing my money completely away.
