Free Y events help with healthy living

Saturday is Healthy Kids Day at the YMCA of Greater Erie, with branches featuring free events for the community.

Activities are scheduled from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Downtown Y and from 1 to 4 p.m. at the County, Eastside Family and Glenwood Park Ys.

The number and kinds of programs vary by site, with options at the Downtown Y including an inflatable obstacle course and whiffle ball and kickball games while Glenwood is offering pickleball and kids zumba, County Y will have karate demos and massages and the Eastside Family will feature kayaking in the pool and three-legged races.

Besides physical activity, the day will feature information on meal planning, healthy snacks, poison control, how to use a lifejacket and meditation, depending on the site.
