One of the few things I dislike about having cats is cleaning their litter boxes. I still think it’s better than cleaning up out in the yard after a dog. And I might even dislike scooping litter less if I hadn’t paid for it. So I entered the World’s Best Cat Litter Feline Valentine Prize Pack giveaway.

The pack includes a year’s supply of World’s Best Cat Litter in the form of 12 coupons for 7- or 8-pound bags. The pack also includes a four-piece set of Catty Stacks, a Litter Spinner and a Scratch Lounge.

You have to be a U.S. resident age 18 or older to enter and one winner will be notified on Feb. 21, the giveaway page says.

To enter, go to www.facebook.com/worldsbestcatlitter and click on “Pamper Your Cat.” You can get extra entries by sharing the contest with friends.

I love my cats. They make me laugh and sleeping on the couch with them curled up on my lap is a great way to spend a rainy afternoon.

But they do cost me money for food, veterinarian visits and cat litter.

One way I started saving was by stopping myself from buying any more cat toys. I discovered that my cats prefer toilet paper rolls, Tootsie Roll wrappers and the rings off gallons of milk. They play with those way more than any cat toy I’ve already bought.

Another way I’ll save on my cat expenses is with the litter rebate I found online.

World’s Best Cat Litter is offering a rebate for a 7- or 8-pound bag of its clumping, multiple cat clumping or scented multiple cat clumping formula. The rebate offer is good for up to $12.99. You do have to mail in the original UPC barcode from the litter plus a rebate form.

To get the form, go to www.worldsbestcatlitter.com/free-bag-rebate/

You must purchase the litter by Dec. 31 and your rebate request must be received by Feb. 15.

I admit I’ve never tried Seattle’s Best Coffee. But I will without paying a penny in 6 to 10 weeks. That’s how long it’s supposed to take for my 1.75-ounce sample of ground coffee to arrive in my mailbox.

I signed up today for the Seattle’s Best Coffee Great American Coffee Refund. The sample is the refund and I got to choose between “bright and lively” or “dark and bold.”

They have 100,000 to give away and you can request one per household until April 18 or supplies run out. The page confirming that my “coffee refund is on its way” also said I could get a free small brewed coffee on April 17 at a Seattle’s Best Coffee Cafe but there weren’t more specific details about that offer.

Go to www.facebook.com/seattlesbestcoffee and click on Great American Coffee Refund.

I have a 17-year-old TV that’s nearing the end of its life and when it does finally go, I don’t want to simply put it out with the trash.

Because I try to be both frugal and good about recycling, I’m considering Best Buy’s consumer electronics recycling program.

I can take my TV — or other electronics including computers, cell phones, DVD players and even fans and vacuums — to the store chain, according to its website.

Best Buy will accept and recycle some items for free. Others, they will charge $10 for but then immediately give you a $10 Best Buy gift card good toward a future purchase.

To find out what the Best Buy stores in your state will take, visit www.bestbuy.com and click on Recycling under Product Support near the bottom of the page.

Has anyone recycled items in this way? How did it work out for you?

Do you know of any other places where people can recycle electronics for little or no cost?
