Panera Bread has a new site in Erie and that means grand opening specials this week.

The restaurant at 4014 Peach St. opens Tuesday at 6:30 a.m.

Beginning at 10 a.m., the first 500 guests will receive a free coffee mug with free refills for two weeks, according to a postcard I received at home in the mail.

Later Tuesday, and again Wednesday, if you purchase a You-Pick-Two, you can receive a $5 gift card for your next visit, according to the postcard.

To learn more about Panera, visit www.panerabread.com. When I checked out the site today, it didn’t yet list the new Erie store.

I admit I’ve never tried Seattle’s Best Coffee. But I will without paying a penny in 6 to 10 weeks. That’s how long it’s supposed to take for my 1.75-ounce sample of ground coffee to arrive in my mailbox.

I signed up today for the Seattle’s Best Coffee Great American Coffee Refund. The sample is the refund and I got to choose between “bright and lively” or “dark and bold.”

They have 100,000 to give away and you can request one per household until April 18 or supplies run out. The page confirming that my “coffee refund is on its way” also said I could get a free small brewed coffee on April 17 at a Seattle’s Best Coffee Cafe but there weren’t more specific details about that offer.

Go to www.facebook.com/seattlesbestcoffee and click on Great American Coffee Refund.

In celebration of Earth Day, Starbucks is offering two incentives on Friday, according to an e-mail forwarded by Melissa L.

If you take in your own reusable travel mug, the coffee shops will fill it with their premium brewed coffee or tea for free. You can get it hot, if you’re in Erie where it’s still cold, or iced, if you’re somewhere where spring has actually arrived.

If you buy a travel mug, the price will be 20 percent off and you’ll get it filled with coffee or tea for free.

Visit www.starbucks.com to learn more (watch the video) or find a Starbucks (if you don’t live in one of those places with the coffee stores on almost every corner).

Today is your last day to get a free small coffee from a McDonald’s restaurant in northwestern Pennsylvania. The Erie-area restaurants are offering you a complimentary small premium roast drip coffee until midnight tonight.

It’s a deal for you and it also benefits Ronald McDonald House Charities, to which the restaurants are donating a penny for each coffee given away.
