The web pages for the three Sander’s Markets in Erie County have a coupon that will let you get a 64-ounce tube of Colgate toothpaste for 77 cents.

The coupon says it’s valid at any Sander’s location and it expires Jan. 31.

Now that Black Friday is past, it’s time to look ahead to Cyber Monday.

I admit (OK, brag ) I’ve already finished most of my holiday shopping and a lot of it was done online. Over the next few days I’ll share some of what I’ve learned.

My first piece of advice: Use coupon and free-shipping codes and, if you don’t have them, search for them online.

I’m on the e-mail lists for several catalogs and websites. A benefit of a full inbox is that some of the e-mails from these places contain codes that lead to a certain percent off my order or free shipping. Last year, I didn’t pay for shipping on any of the Christmas gifts I ordered online.

This year, thanks to the code I found on the front of one catalog, I saved about $15 in shipping costs on one order.

I didn’t have any codes for another catalog website I was visiting because I hadn’t ordered from it before. So I did a Google search for the catalog name and “coupon code.” I got numerous results and on one of them I found a code for 10 percent off my entire order.

There’s also a site, www.couponcodes.com, where you can search for codes based on the name of a store, catalog or website.

When I checked the site today, there was a coupon for $1 off any 2 Mars candy Halloween bags. That includes Snickers, Twix and M&M’s.

When I request a freebie or sample, I often have to agree to receive a company’s occasional e-mails. Most of them end up getting deleted from my mailbox or I later unsubscribe to them. However, I’ve learned that some lead to even more freebies if I look closely enough.

While in pursuit of a Cheerios sample last year, I signed up to get the Betty Crocker e-mail newsletter. I have to admit I apparently have been glancing through it too quickly because it was only recently that I noticed an offer for a free monthly sample.

This month’s offering, available to the first 10,000 people, is for free au gratin potatoes. Next month is sugar cookie mix. (I’m definitely going to have to watch for that one!)

The rules say you have to be a recipient of the subscriber e-mail in order to be eligible for the samples. It’s too late to join and get the potato sample but if you like sugar cookies, head to www.bettycrocker.com and sign up.

You’ll also get access to a bunch of coupons there. When I last checked, the site had 57 coupons worth $70.88. I printed out nine of them for a savings of $7.19.

Splash Lagoon has a deal for grandparents and grandchildren on Sunday.

A grandparent can swim for free at the indoor water park in Summit Township with the purchase of a regular-priced swimming admission for a child age 16 or younger.

According to a coupon I found on the Splash Lagoon website, it looks like the deal is also good on Sept. 23.

While exploring the Jo-Ann Fabric and Craft Stores website at www.joann.com I came across a 40-percent-off coupon.

To get to it, you have to click on “store locator” at the bottom of the page. Under whatever stores come up in “locations found in your area,” click on “more store information.” A link to the coupon will pop up over the map.

The coupon is good for 40 percent off any one regular-priced item, in-store or online. The deal is valid through Sept. 28.

Being old enough to belong to the AARP brings benefits. Like a deal Walgreens is offering.

AARP members who show their card can receive a coupon for $3 off their next in-store purchase when they spend $15 on photofinishing services at Walgreens. The offer is valid through April 30.

If you’re too young for AARP, Walgreens has a photo special on its website for you and anyone else. Visit www.walgreens.com and you can find a coupon code for 40 percent off prints and enlargements that you order online. The deal is good through April 2.
