One week from today, many museums across the U.S. will let you in without paying admission.

Sept. 28 is Museum Day Live! when you can get into participating venues across the country for free by presenting a special ticket you request online.

The annual event is hosted by Smithsonian magazine and at least two Erie sites are participating.

The Smithsonian magazine website lists the Erie County Historical Society and the Erie Art Museum as taking part in Museum Day Live!

To get free admission to any of the participating venues, you have to go to www.smithsonianmag.com/museumday/ticket/ and fill out a form. The site says you’ll then get an e-mail with a ticket to print out and take with you to the museum.

You can get one ticket per household that’s good for free general admission for two people on Sept. 28, the site says.

For more information, including other places taking part, visit www.smithsonianmag.com/museumday or call (202) 633-1000.

In celebration of Earth Day, Starbucks is offering two incentives on Friday, according to an e-mail forwarded by Melissa L.

If you take in your own reusable travel mug, the coffee shops will fill it with their premium brewed coffee or tea for free. You can get it hot, if you’re in Erie where it’s still cold, or iced, if you’re somewhere where spring has actually arrived.

If you buy a travel mug, the price will be 20 percent off and you’ll get it filled with coffee or tea for free.

Visit www.starbucks.com to learn more (watch the video) or find a Starbucks (if you don’t live in one of those places with the coffee stores on almost every corner).
