If you only want to fish one day this year in Pennsylvania, Monday could be your day. Memorial Day is one of only two fish-for-free days in the state this year. The other is July Fourth.

On those two days, anyone, resident or non-resident, can legally fish in Pennsylvania with no fishing license required, according to the state Fish & Boat Commission.

That could save you quite a bit, depending on what kind of license you would normally need to fish in the Keystone State. Rates range from $2.70 for a one-year license for a resident in the National Guard or Armed Forces Reserve to $52.70 for a one-year nonresident license. A one-day license for a Pennsylvania resident age 16 or older costs $11.70 while a one-day tourist license for a non-resident age 16 or older is $26.70.

For more information, go to http://fishandboat.com/fishforfree.htm or call (877) 707-4085.

Back when I was in college and went to Oxford, England, for a study-abroad program, my fellow students and I sometimes found the food we were served in a college dining hall to be less than appetizing. So we often made after-supper treks to a local Haagen-Dazs shop for dessert.

I wish we had one of those stores in Erie because today is free cone day at participating Haagen-Dazs shops in the U.S. To find if you have a Haagen-Dazs near you and if it’s taking part in the promo, go to www.facebook.com/haagendazsus and click on “Shop Locator.”

If you’re one of the lucky ones, enjoy your free cone!

Many years ago I ordered a pair of Jell-O Jigglers egg molds when they were being offered for free. I still use them occasionally and the egg-shaped Jell-O treats they create were popular with my family at quite a few Easter Sunday dinners.

Kraft is again making the Jell-O Jigglers egg molds available for free. The offer is good through March 31 or while supplies last, according to the Kraft website.

Getting a mold will cost you something, however. You do have to pay $2.95 shipping and handling per mold. But that’s still less than you’d normally pay. The regular price for a mold is $2.50 plus the $2.95 shipping and handling.

If you want to order a mold, go to https://apfco.com/secure/w1381/product_description.cfm?product=KW1381-6 or call (800) 323-0768.
