Gannon University students and faculty are providing you with an opportunity to read books for free.

The university today was establishing the first Little Free Library of 11 that will eventually be put in place. The first was set to go up today at 2 p.m. outside of the Mental Health Association of Northwestern Pennsylvania, 1101 Peach St.

A news release from Gannon describes a Little Free Library as a community book exchange in a structure resembling an oversized birdhouse. One of the libraries can usually hold at least two dozen books and anyone can take a book for free, read it and return it at his or her convenience, the release said. People also are welcome to contribute books.

Gannon’s Little Free Libraries were designed and constructed by students, with books donated by the university’s Nash Library, according to the release.
