When my niece was little, I got her watching the Muppets because I figured if I was going to have to watch something with her while babysitting, I’d much rather watch Jim Henson’s puppets than Barney or the Teletubbies. And I have to admit, I still enjoy the Muppets.

I do own a Kermit the frog T-shirt and a pair of Muppets pajama pants that I sleep in, plus stuffed versions of Kermit, Piggy, Fozzie and Gonzo. If I wanted, I could add a Muppets backpack to my collection.

Subway is giving a Disney’s “Muppets Most Wanted” backpack with every kids meal purchase. Subway’s offer website says the freebie is available only for a limited time while supplies last.

Subway Restaurants sent me an e-mail about a deal through the end of October.

If you buy any 6-inch sub and drink, you can get a 6-inch sub of equal or lesser price for free.

There’s a bit of a catch. The deal is good daily, but only until 9 a.m. So if you want a free sub for lunch and/or supper, you need to stop in and get it at breakfast time.

Visit www.subway.com to learn more.

My friend Melissa discovered this offer yesterday when shopping at the Millcreek Mall:

If you go to Customer Service at the mall and take $75 worth of receipts dated between Feb. 1 and 14 from the Millcreek Mall Complex, you’ll get a $10 voucher. That voucher is good at a Millcreek Mall Complex Max & Erma’s or Subway between Feb. 7 and 21, according to the mall website.

The offer is good while supplies last.
