Comfort Food in Review

chewonitIf you haven’t yet, be sure to “like” Chew On It: Beard vs. Food on Facebook and follow me on Twitter!

My tour of comfort food was perfect for this cold winter. Amanda and I tried to eat food that was a good substitute for some of our favorite home-cooked comfort dishes. Some fit perfectly and others fell a bit short.

My favorites overall were (in no particular order):

Traditional dishes: Meatloaf and Gravy, Patrick’s Family Restaurant; Polish delicacies, Dabrowski’s Restaurant & Deli; Pot Roast and Country Fried Steak, Lorie’s Wildridge Restaurant.

Pasta: Wild Mushroom Ravioli and Spaghetti and Meatballs, L’Olivo; Seafood Alfredo, Johnny B’s.

Others: Southern delicacies especially the Chicken/Waffles and Slow Cooked Ribs, Pineapple Eddie Southern Bistro; All of the Barbecue; Three B Saloon.

Almost everything we tried on this tour was amazing. I will be back eating at these locations soon. Thank you to everyone who voted as well as the staff members at each restaurant who were so warm and welcoming.

Next week starts a new tour of vegetarian food in Erie. Send a recommendation for your favorite place to eat vegetarian food to or to the Beard Vs. Food Facebook.  Remember to come back and vote as well.

Until next time,

Andrew — Beard vs. Food
