The Beach Boys reunion tour and Dave Matthews Band will both visit the tri-state area on their upcoming tours. And, this just in, Iron Maiden and Alice Cooper will also team up this summer.
The Beach Boys’ 50th anniversary tour, expected to be a blockbuster, will visit Pittsburgh’s Benedum Center on May 11; Blossom Music Center near Cleveland on June 13; and Darien Lake Performing Arts Center in Darien Center, N.Y. on June 29.
Tickets for the rare indoor show in Pittsburgh will go on sale Feb. 27. Both the Blossom and Darien Lake shows go on sale Feb. 25. Blossom has already released ticket prices: $95, $55, $35, and $25. You can also get a lawn four-pack of tickets for $79.
The Beach Boys tour includes Brian Wilson, Mike Love, Al Jardine, Bruce Johnston and David Marks. They played a pretty strong version of “Good Vibrations” at the Grammy Awards, though Wilson seems a little hobbled. For more details, visit thebeachboys.com.
Matthews’ summer tour, his first after taking 2011 off, will stop at Blossom Music Center on June 3 with Blind Pilot opening. DMB then visits Darien Lake Performing Arts Center, with guest Brandi Carlile, on July 3. The group will play two shows at First Niagara Pavilion near Pittsburgh, both with SOJA opening. Those shows are set for July 13-14.
Pre-sale for DMB Warehouse Fan Association members begins Thursday at 10 a.m. at www.warehouse.davematthewsband.com. The regular on-sale date for the general public is March 9.
The Iron Maiden/Alice Cooper tour includes just one area date so far, July 16 at Darien Lake Performing Arts Center near Buffalo. Tickets will go sale on either March 2 or March 3, according to the band’s web site, which says the group will replicate its 1988 concert video, “Maiden England,” as closely as possible.
Alas, we had no space in Thursday’s Showcase for Dr. Rock’s concert listings. So, I added the new announced dates below: Also, check out Train’s new video for “Drive By,” released on Valentine’s Day, which debuted on VH1. You can find a link to it on Train’s site, www.trainline.com.
