Jethro Tull announced today it will release a sequel to “Thick as a Brick,” its 1972 classic. In a press release, Ian Anderson said the album follows the story of Gerald Bostock, now 50, all these years later.
“(It) will examine the possible different paths that the precocious young schoolboy, Gerald Bostock, might have taken later in life through alter-ego characters with song-section identifies illustrating the hugely varied potential twists and turns of fate and opportunity,” Anderson wrote.
This album apparently features individual songs; the original functioned as a sustained piece of music. The track listing includes 18 song titles.
Tull will tour later this summer and play both “Bricks” from start to finish. It hasn’t done the entire original album live since its one and only tour for the ’72 album.
“Thick As a Brick 2″ will be released April 3. The tour will include Anderson, John O’Hara (keys), David Goodier (bass), Florian Opahle (guitar) and Scott Hammond (drums).
Tull played Erie twice. This would be a good occasion to get them back.
