Tickets for the blockbuster summer concert with ZZ Top and Lynyrd Skynryd set for Sept. 9 at Jerry Uht Park will go on sale July 27 at the Warner Theatre box office, online at www.erieevents.com and by phone at 452-4857.
Show time will be 7 p.m., which is cool. An afternoon show might be too brutal with the heat we’ve had.
Ticket prices are still being ironed out; I’ll let you know when I hear. No word yet on which band will open, either. But, really, can you go wrong either way? Think of the songs you’ll hear on this Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Day: “LaGrange,” “Tush,” “Gimme All Your Loving,” Sharp Dressed Man,” “Sweet Home Alabama,” “Free Bird,” “Saturday Night Special,” “Simple Man” and so many more.
Both artists have played Erie before but never together which makes this a must-see.
Christian rock band the Newsboys are also headed for Erie; they will play the Warner Theatre on Sept. 27. Special guests include Building 429, Luminate and Grace Campbell. Tickets are $36, $31 and $21 and on sale now at the same sites listed above for ZZ Top.
Rapper 2Chainz will play the Bayfront Convention Center on Aug. 3. The Georgia-born artist has recorded with Drake (“No Lie”), Ciara (“Sweat”), Wiz Khalifa (“It’s Nothin’); Nicki Minaj (“Beez in the Trap”); T.I. (“Spend It”), Big K.R.I.T. (“Money on the Floor”) and is currently riding high as part of Kanye West’s “Mercy,” which also features Big Sean and Pusha T.
Tickets are $35, $55 and $75. Call 452-4857 or visit www.erieevents.com or the Warner Theatre box office. Twerk Term will also perform.
Remember, too, that tickets are on sale for the Tiesto College Club Invasion tour which will play the Erie Insurance Arena on Oct. 3. Nice to pull in a major EDM artist; let’s hope Erie supports it.
