I’m back! So is Lewis Black

After not blogging because of vacation, and then being buried by Showcase, I’m back with plenty of new shows to report.
Two are for Erie: Comedian Lewis Black and the children’s show Pajanimals Live!
Black, one of my favorite comedians, will return to the Warner Theatre on Jan. 11. He’s calling this “The Rant is Due” 2013 tour and he ought to have plenty to say, now that the election is in the rear-view mirror. Black has won two Grammy Awards for best comedy album, including “Stark Raving Black,” and has appeared on “The Daily Show” since 1996.
Tickets range from $35 to $65 and go on sale Friday at www.erieevents.com, 452-4857 and at the Warner box office.

Jim Henson Company’s Pajanimals will embark on their first tour, which includes an April 24 stop at the Warner. Tickets go on sale Saturday at the same outlets as above. This show for pre-schoolers airs on NBC on Saturday mornings, and on the Sprout cable network.

Kenny Chesney, Eric Church and the Eli Young Band will play Pittsburgh’s Heinz Field on June 22. Save your dough; tickets don’t go on sale until Dec. 7.

PBS’ “Great Performances” will feature a restored version of the Beatles’ much-maligned “Magical Mystery Tour” on Dec. 14. It’ll be preceded by a one-hour film that looks at the story behind the film, including interviews with Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr, plus file footage with John Lennon and George Harrison. “Mystery” was so reviled at the time that McCartney went on British television the day after it aired to explain it. The film later acquired a cult following of folks who appreciated its non-linear, surreal approach.
