Happy New Year

Erie will have no shortage of New Year’s Eve shows, with parties slotted at Bayfront Convention Center, Crooked I, Doc Holliday’s, the Bel-Aire, Erie Art Museum and more.
We’ll have a roundup in the Dec. 27 issue. For now, though, be aware that Next of Kin’s show at Doc Holliday’s is a farewell gig. The band is taking a break, likely for good, after 11 years together. Mike Mannarino talks about their ride in Showcase.
Also, Big Leg Emma welcomes back singer and fiddle player Amanda Barton. She’s been gone since early summer due to health issues. Her first gig back will be Dec. 31 at Crooked I and Steve Johnson says she’s probably will be back for good. The band will play a lot of Led Zeppelin and not just the acoustic ones you might think. “Achilles Last Stand,” anyone? Look for our interview with Johnson in Showcase.
King’s Rook re-opens with Taylor Maid but that’s a private gig. Stay tuned for new on the Rook’s official grand opening later.
I’m on vacation until Dec. 31…so don’t look for any more updates until then.
I hope everyone has a great Christmas.
