Michael McDonald to Chautauqua; All Star Comedy Jam to Erie

Comedians Michael Blackson and Luenell will headline the Good Friday Comedy All Star Jam on March 29 at the Warner Theatre.
Blackson played the “Angry African” in 2000′s “Next Friday.” Since then, he’s appeared on “The Mo’Nique Show,” on TBS series “Are We There Yet” and headlined the Shaq All Star Jam Tour. Luenell played the hooker with a heart of gold in “Borat.” Sh also was in recent films “Think Like a Man,” “Taken 2″ and “That’s My Boy.”
Tickets will go on sale soon.

Chautauqua Institution has added former Doobie Brother and long-time hit maker Michael McDonald for July 12. Tickets will be $40. All amphitheater specials will go on sale April 1. More announcements will trickle in between now and then.

Rolling Stone reports Al Pacino will play late Penn State football coach Joe Paterno in a film to be directed by Brian De Palma. That could prove interesting. Let’s hope they emphasize the good years and not just the Jerry Sandusky scandal.

Today’s Showcase indicates Gianni Russo of the first two “Godfather” films will sing at Presque Isle Downs & Casino in February. That’s correct, but I typed in the wrong date. He will be there on Feb. 16, a Saturday night.

Train will play before the NFL’s Pro Bowl in Hawaii on Jan. 27. Not sure how much of it NBC will show, so tune in before game time.
