Roar on the Shore headliners

Are you ready to roar?
Former NASCAR driver Kyle Petty will serve as grand marshal for the 2013 Roar on the Shore, event organizers announced Friday morning.
Music headliners will include Firehouse (July 18), Jackyl (July 19) and Queensryche (July 20).
Petty will lead bikers from Presque Isle Downs & Casino to Perry Square on the event’s opening day. He’s the son of Richard Petty and father of Adam Petty, who died while practicing for the Busch 200 series in 2000. He currently hosts NASCAR Race Day.
Hard-rock veterans Firehouse have racked up such hits as “When I Look Into Your Eyes,” “Love of a Lifetime” and “I Live My Life for You.” Jackyl (“I Stand Alone,” “The Lumberjack”) includes singer Jesse Dupree, who stars in the Discovery Channel reality show “Full Throttle Saloon.”
Queensryche has forged ahead without singer Geoff Tate; they had a contentious split in 2012. The Queensryche at the Roar will feature the original band with new singer Todd LaTorre.
Local opening bands were announced earlier this week. Hammersmith will precede Firehouse; Bastard Bearded Irishmen will play before Jackyl and French Kiss will open for Queensryche. They won their opening slots through fan voting on the Roar on the Shore’s Facebook page.
The 2013 rally will benefit the Boys & Girls Club of Erie. The event has raised more than $500,000 for charitable organization since it began.
