On-sales for Nine Inch Nails, Queens of the Stone Age; Fathers Day, more

Tickets for some big shows go on sale this weekend, including Nine Inch Nails, Rancid, Queens of the Stone Age and even Sigur Ros, who rarely has played the tri-state area. See below for those.

Father’s Day is Sunday. Nice to know I have one day where I can kick back and relax and not get into trouble about it. There are quite a few songs about fathers and sons, but few are more poignant, wise or true than Cat Stevens’ “Father and Son.” What can I say; I grew up in the late 60s and early 70s. And I always liked it better than Harry Chapin’s “Cat’s in the Cradle.”

Here’s a vintage clip of Stevens performing the song:

Speaking of Fathers Day, don’t miss Sunday’s Erie Times-News. We cover a couple local musical fathers and sons: Jake Banta and his sons Steve and Jonathan, and Ron Sutton Sr. and Ron Sutton Jr.

Dionne Warwick will be interviewed as part of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum’s Legends Series on June 26 in Cleveland. Tickets are free, but reservations are required.
